RezAid collects schools supplies, clothing, and other items to ship directly to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. We support schools, youth centers, and community organizations, and we keep in contact with members of the Pine Ridge community who let us know what items are most needed and how we can help.

RezAid was started in 2013 by Joel Hendricks, singer of Orange County punk band HFL, and his wife Kamie Hendricks, an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux tribe. A simple idea to ask friends and concert-goers to bring donations of school supplies to an HFL concert resulted in an overwhelming turnout. After sending eight full boxes of school supplies to Little Wound School on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, it became clear that something special had been born and should be continued. With the help of a few friends, the fledgling organization was named RezAid, and built with the the belief that humans enjoy the opportunity to give directly to other humans in a way that will relieve suffering and encourage a better quality of life. The punk rock roots of RezAid are deep seated, as we believe the passion which drives punk music pairs perfectly with the grass roots rebellion of our "Guerrilla Charity."

We, the members of RezAid, never personally receive a penny of compensation for the work we do. In fact we often supplement shipping costs with our own money when needed. The only payment we receive is the joy of providing crayons to a kindergartner, supplying bandages to medical clinics which serve elderly patients who cannot otherwise pay for medical treatment, giving baby clothes to a new mother who cannot purchase them, putting a warm coat on a person who is walking in the snow, putting a book into the hands of a child who is learning to read... in fact, we are overpaid.

GUERRILLA CHARITY
We are not an officially registered nonprofit organization. We believe in doing estimable acts because we should and because we can, without permission from the federal and state agencies. We are motivated by humanity, not by tax-exempt status. We are a small group of people who are taking action to help other people in need, and we are not asking permission to be charitable. Generosity of humans toward other humans is essential, with or without government consent or the promise of tax deductions.

If you wish to make a tax deductible contribution to a 501(c)3 organization, we suggest one of the following:

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you live in Southern California (Orange County/Long Beach/Los Angeles):
Come to one of our events - Bring a donation of supplies, support us and support the bands that help us out.
If you can't make it to one of our events, contact us to donate supplies directly.
Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We frequently post information about events and clothing drives that we are organizing.

If you are outside of the Southern California Area:
If you are not in our area and you want to contribute, contact us - we can give you information for schools and organizations on the Pine Ridge Reservation to send your donated items to directly. Organize a supplies drive of your own and ask your neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers to participate. If you can collect a small shipment of items (new or VERY gently used and still fully functioning and useful), package them up in a sturdy box, and pay for shipping, you can help!
